Welding Booths & Fume Extraction

Weld fumes contain manganese, hexavalent chromium, and other particulates linked to long-term respiratory and neurological harm. OSHA’s general industry standard caps exposure at 5 mg/m³, and a growing number of manufacturers are targeting far lower limits — as low as .02 mg/m³ — as part of internal policy. Do You Need an Enclosure, or Just Extraction?

Not every application needs a full booth. A portable extractor or central fume collector can capture fumes at the source or through ducting without any enclosure at all — the right call for a single welder on an open floor, or a facility retrofitting extraction onto stations that already exist. Welding booths and enclosures are worth adding on top of that when you also need to contain sparks, spatter, and UV flash from nearby workers — the common case in training labs and shared production floors.

Enclosed Welding Booths — Three Ways to Build One

  • Welding Booth Kits — 12-gauge steel construction, custom sized from 4×4 up to the 6×6 AWS standard. Ships as bolt-together panels that pair with your own ducting and dust collector, giving you full control over the extraction side. Best fit for schools and shops standardizing a lab layout with shared walls to cut cost.
  • Welding Stations — Self-contained steel booth with 4,000 CFM filtration built in. No ductwork, no wall penetrations, no cement pour. Best fit when you need extraction and enclosure in one plug-and-play unit, or when your layout may change and permanent ducting isn’t practical.
  • Welding Booth Curtains — Flame-resistant vinyl curtain enclosures on Steel Guard’s track hardware, rather than steel panels. The lowest-cost way to build individual welding stations, with open-airflow or plenum-vented configurations, though they trade some of the physical durability of a steel booth for cost and speed of reconfiguration.
