Steel Guard Safety Corp's History dates back to 1913 when a set of entrepreneurs started a Tent and Awning company in booming steel and mining city of Terre Haute Indiana. The company started sewing not just tents and awnings but moved into the garment industry sewing items such as aprons, and clothes. The Boom Town eventually turned to bust and the company eventually changed its business focus to industrial fabric products in the 1970's for industries in petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and general industry. Making chutes, filters, covers, and custom industrial fabric products, and safety products.

In 2006, Steel Guard Safety Corporation was formed, from the older Terre Haute Tent & Awning Co. Founded in 1913, entrepreneurs started a Tent and Awning Company in the booming steel and mining city of Terre Haute Indiana. The company expanded into the garment industry sewing aprons and clothing in addition to the manufacturing of tents and awnings. When the Boom Town turned bust, the company changed its business focus to the production of custom industrial fabric products in the 1970ís for petrochemical, pharmaceutical and other general industries. While still manufacturing tents and awnings, the companyís focus has remained on making chutes, filter covers, custom industrial fabric products and safety products.
